Clear answers before your appointment.
Knowing what to expect can make seeking care feel much easier.
What is osteopathy?+
Osteopathy is a regulated healthcare profession focused on the relationship between the body's structure, movement and function. Treatment may include joint mobilisation, soft tissue work and practical advice.
Does treatment hurt?+
Laura works within your comfort and explains techniques before using them. Some areas may feel tender and mild short-term soreness can occur, but treatment should not feel alarming.
What should I wear?+
Wear comfortable clothing. Depending on the assessment, you may be asked to uncover the area being examined; you are always welcome to discuss alternatives or bring a chaperone.
Do I need a referral?+
No. You can book directly without a GP referral, although some insurers may have their own requirements.
Can you treat babies and children?+
Yes. Laura uses gentle cranial techniques adapted for babies and children. A parent or guardian remains present throughout.
How many sessions will I need?+
This varies with your concern, health and response to treatment. Laura will discuss an honest, individual plan after assessment rather than prescribing a fixed course.
What happens at the first appointment?+
Laura takes a full case history, carries out an appropriate physical assessment, explains her findings and discusses treatment and next steps with you.
Which clinic should I choose?+
Choose Mayfield or Tunbridge Wells based on convenience and live availability. If you are unsure, call the practice.
